Okay, So I was googling up the various places which I would like to visit in India, and believe me, I was utterly confused! Okay fine! I had to choose something, but what? Google…Google…Google…
And then these deserts caught my eye. Yes, beautiful ones caught my attention. That’s it! and that’s where I wanna go. Pack my bags and I swwwooosshh….
Seriously, Jaipur was the best choice one can plan up for a perfect trip in India.
So, when you enter Jaipur and if you are looking for an economic hotels then RTDC Swagatham is a good choice for you as it is close to the railway station and also provides you a good service and also has good vicinity. Move up more lanes and you can find some other hotels like Kanji, known for it’s famous cuisines.
So what’s the first thing you need to watch in Jaipur? Take a cab and go 11kms away from the city and you can see the exotic Amer Fort. But,beware of guides in Amer Fort! Better take a knowledgeable person than going by an stupid guide. Why? There are guides who take you for a ride by building up fairy tales, and made you visit a Rajasthan emporium stating that it is a cottage industry with fixed prices. And charge you double the prices for nothing! Travel with a local tour guide in Jaipur on a guided tour and discover the difference.
Go more forward and then you see Jaigarh, famous for it’s huge Cannon, and Nahargarh which became famous at the shooting spots for popular films like Mahendra Bhawan and Rang de basanti. While returning to the back after the day, do not forget to stop at Kanak Garden and JalMahal, which is a palace amidst water to click a few snaps. Selfies? not really a good choice.
Next hit up to the City Palace’s museum, which are the center attract of the palace.
Interested in Physics and Science? cross the road and you see Jantar-Mantar with it’s exotic sun-dials and space studies. You should see my enthusiasm on the stars grow up almost instantly. No, physics and space study isn’t my thing, but I could remember the words of Stephen Hawking when I saw Jantar-Mantar- “Humanity’s deepest desire for knowledge is justification enough for our continuing quest. And our goal is nothing less than a complete description of the universe we live in.”
Finally end up your trip with a day’s shopping on semi precious stone, diamonds, Jewelleries, exotic blue pottery, the batik painting, block printed textiles of Sanganer and Bagru, tie & dye fabrics, Mojari- the local shoe, sandal wood carving items, beautiful stone carvings etc. And for an endless list blue pottery, Bapu Bazaar can surely give you the best.
Now, after this heavy trip, aren’t your tummy’s craving for some Rajasthani food? Mine desperately is! So where do we head to? I say that LMB restaurant at Johri Bazaar is the best choice for some delicious ethnic Rajasthani food. Not to forget the Dal Batti Churma and the Mawa Kachori. And for those who prefer who like International Cuisines, hit up “Copper Chimney” and for Continental hit up “Niros” at MI Road.
