Agra is the city of the Taj Mahal, in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, some 200 km from Delhi. It is part of the Golden triangle. It is located within the compound of the Agra Fort with river Yamuna flowing in the backdrop. This mosque is very frequently visited and popular with the travelers. The domes are built with light white marble which gives it a very velvety look and adds a sparkle to it making it shine.
Moti Masjid or the Pearl Mosque was built by the emperor who built Taj Mahal, Shah Jahan. The mosque shined like a pearl and hence was popularly called by the name of Moti Masjid.The mosque was built by Shahjahan for his members of the royal court. The three marble domes of the mosque rest over the vivid red sandstone walls creating an astonishing sight. The structure is built aesthetically with complete symmetry. It is neighboring the hall Diwan-E-Aam of the Agra Fort.
